Windows 10 Technical Preview

Well...I skipped the comprehensive review of Windows 8 as promised earlier but this time I have made a promise to keep this blog updated as frequently as I change the plastic screen protector on my mobile phone. Here is a quick summary:

Windows 8: Non-Start
Windows 8 was good. It booted quite fast and the resume from standby feature was amazing. However the lack of a smaller start menu in Windows 8 turned out to be quite a non-starter for some as it took the starting point of the familiarity away. The starting point wasn't the desktop, it was the dedicated start button. This was not the smartest move on part of Microsoft. There was consumer backlash. We had Windows 8.1, but no Start button seen yet. There were good third party replacements that mimicked Windows XP or Windows 7 look and feel.

Windows 10 Technical Preview: A better Start
Late last year (2014) we saw Windows 10 Technical Preview. They listened to consumer feedback and we saw as reduced version of the Start Metro UI screen. This was much more comfortable to use especially in the desktop mode. I have been using Windows 10 Technical Preview machine for a while now and use it almost daily without issues.

Which version of Windows do you use and what is your experience with it?
Do you love it or hate it? Would you rather own a Mac?
As usual I want your comments....
Swapnil.
